Dr. Kenneth A. Russell

Dr. Kenneth Russell is a distinguished expert in education, youth, and community development. He hails from Pedro River, St. Ann, where his early education journey began at Bensonton All Age and Ferncourt High School. Dr. Russell pursued higher education at Howard University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Communications. He furthered his academic prowess with a Master's and Doctoral degree in Education from Harvard University.

With a prolific career at the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Dr. Russell has contributed significantly to education across multiple countries. Most recently, he served at UNICEF Headquarters in New York, leading the primary education portfolio, which encompassed Foundational Learning, Climate Education, and School Health and Nutrition. His international assignments with UNICEF included impactful work in Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and Jamaica, where he focused on enhancing education quality through initiatives in parenting, assessment, curriculum, and teacher training.

In addition to his UNICEF roles, Dr. Russell has dedicated his expertise to youth development in Jamaica, having worked as a youth development specialist for the Jamaican government and as a grade six teacher at Fort George Primary (St. Ann) and DuPont Primary (Kingston).

Currently, Dr. Russell is an independent consultant, advising on education reforms worldwide. He is also the PNP Candidate for Member of Parliament for South East St. Ann and serves as the Deputy Shadow Minister of Education and Community Development.
